Vintage French fabric with autumnal colouring.

www.etsy.com/shop/feltissimo

I just adore the design on this vintage French fabric. The flowers are superb abd the dark red wine colour makes the flowers jump out at you. This would be superb if it was added to a cushion/pillow front. The fabric is very strong. A great Autumnal colour which could be used also at Christmas.
Now in my 'Feltissimo' etsy shop.

Measures - 51.5cms/20.3" x 26.5cms/10.4"

Vintage Toile de Jouy fabric

Just added this vintage French fabric to my shop.
This is a wonderful piece of French Toile de Jouy. It is gently faded and in good condition apart from some holes along the bottom edge where it had been attached to something. I have not counted the fabric at the bottom in the measurements.

Measures - 46ms/18.12 x 31cms/12.2"

It will make a superb cushion front or the front of a bag. Equally it would look superb framed.

Felt, silk and scrim wall art, ancient swimming fish

I got the inspiration for this textile piece whilst at the V&A in London. In the ceramics section I saw a bowl with a design of fish that was so unusual. On reading the label I saw that it dated from c.1300-c.1400 hence the naivety of the design. The bowl was made in the Sultanabad region of Iran. I knew then that a textile piece had to be made.
I wet felted a piece of white merino wool and attached a piece of green cotton scrim. I then cut out the fish in the same design as the V&A bowl from a fabric I mad previously made using a variety of antique silks. The fish were embellished with machine stitching using modern bronze threads. An addition of antique silk was felted for rocks and strands of wool was wrapped around wool fibres for seaweed. Further machine stitching was used in metallic threads to add depth to the piece. Finally the whole piece was made firm with the addition of a painted lightweight pelmet vilene.
Measures - 23cms/9" x 21.5cms/8.5" at the widest points.

Started felting fulltime now.

Now that I have retired from the Rag Rescue business I am able to spend my time felting again. I've re-opened my 'Feltissimo' shop on etsy

I've added three new brooches today and there will be some felted wall hangings tomorrow.

As well as felted items I will also be selling the remaining textile supplies from Rag Rescue. These you will be able to find under the 'textile suppies' category on etsy Feltissimo. It will take me a few days to get some of them on etsy but they should be on by the end of the week.

Pretty handmade felt and vintage fabric bag.

This bag is made entirely of hand made felt and does not contain any seams.

Merino wool fibres were used to make the felt in orange, burgundy, turquoise and peacock blue colours

The front is decorated with vintage fabric which has shrunk when felted creating a wonderful pebble effect. Vintage wooden coloured beads have been added to the design.

The bag secures well with the use of a large antique press stud.

Size - With the handles - 31cmshigh x 21cms at the widest point ( 12.25" x 8.25")
- The bag without the handles - 18cms x 21cms (7" x 8.25")

Wedding day cards made from handmade felt, vintage fabrics and embellishments.

The 'Wedding day' card I made for my son and my daughter in law.

Handmade felt with machine stitching, embellished with a vintage white feather, wax flower buds, 1930's sequins and embroidered french knots created with antique pure silk thread. All from the Rag Rescue stock.

My mum saw the card I had made for Dan and Emma and asked me to make her one, so here it is.
This card has wonderful embellishments added to a base of handmade felt with vintage French fabric creating a window.
I now have two more requests, one more wedding and one for a 100 year birthday.

I do take requests for custom made felt cards whatever the occasion, so just email me at
sales(at)ragrescue(dot)co(dot)uk using the normal format.
