Nuno felt purse/pouch with vintage silks. Christmas gift

This is a very useful purse pouch made from handmade felt and antique and vintage silk fabrics. Because the silks were felted into the merino wool fibres they have shrunk and have given this new fabric a wonderful texture.

Vintage bugle and square cut beads have been added as further decoration. It fastens with a large antique press stud.

This is a very useful purse pouch. Ideal as a glasses case. Wonderful Christmas gift .

 Measures - 16.5cms wide x 10cms (6.5" x 4") when closed.

Pretty felted brooch, felt pin with bugle beads and Chinese trim- FB14 Christmas gift .

A pretty handmade felt brooch/pin made from merino wool fibres in various shades of white, green and yellow. A design has been created at the top using golden coloured Victorian bugle beads. At the outward edge of the cut lengths of glass cane I have embroidered a french knot in vintage silk.

The lower end of the brooch/pin has a wonderful antique Chinese embroidered trim in shades of green, coral, cream and red.

In order to make the brooch firm, a layer of Decovil 1 iron on interfacing has been sandwiched between the felt and the woven wool backing. A secure pin has been sewn onto the back.

This brooch can be worn vertically or horizontally as seen in the photo's.

Measurements - approx. 9cms x 5cms (3.5" x 2" )

An ideal gift item especially at Christmas, that is if you can part with it.

Pretty handmade felt and vintage fabric bag.

This bag is made entirely of hand made felt and does not contain any seams.

Merino wool fibres were used to make the felt in orange, burgundy, turquoise and peacock blue colours

The front is decorated with vintage fabric which has shrunk when felted creating a wonderful pebble effect. Vintage wooden coloured beads have been added to the design.

The bag secures well with the use of a large antique press stud.

Size - With the handles - 31cmshigh x 21cms at the widest point ( 12.25" x 8.25")
- The bag without the handles - 18cms x 21cms (7" x 8.25")

Underwater wall hanging.

Underwater wall hanging.

The weather forecast for Morecambe was bad this week so I decided to do some felting. As it happened the skies remained blue for most of the week but I did manage to complete two projects. This is the first, a lovely wall hanging for my grandaughter Molly's bedroom. I have used merino and wensleydale wool tops with silk carrier rods and neeps and an addition of Victorian glass beads and rods in blue and white for the danglers. For the first time I used some embroidery on my felt work, something which I think I will do more of.
