Pretty felted brooch - falling leaves

A pretty handmade felt brooch/pin made from merino wool fibres in various shades of red, orange and green with some white silk fibres added to give the effect of the wind. The leaves have been raised slightly by adding machine stitching. The small stems have been embroidered in chain stitch in matching colours and then the red background is covered in tiny french knots in vintage silk threads.

In order to make the brooch firm, a layer of Decovil 1 iron on interfacing has been sandwiched between the felt and the French vintage fabric backing .

A secure pin has been sewn onto the back.
The brooch comes attached to card and in a cello fronted bag. The postage bag is plastic so as it doesn't get damp in transit.

An ideal birthday or Christmas gift item, that is if you can part with it.

Experience in shipping world wide.

Rippling sand in more ways than one.

It has been a few weeks since my last post and for that I apologise. I've been busy taking my daughter to numerous hospital appointments as she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. At 38 years old with two young children, you can imagine the shock for her and her family.

I am trying to snatch some spare time to do some felt making as I find it is so theraputic especially at stressfull times, so please be patient with me if I don't blog as regular as I would like.

My latest venture into feltmaking has been making some elastic structured felt. I bought the book 'Filz Experiment' by Annette Quentin-Stoll and although the book is in German, the excellent photo's give you some idea as to what to do. I started off making a few small pieces which I made into brooches and have just managed to find time to place them on Etsy.
You can find them HERE

I've also made a cuff and as I'm keeping that myself I haven't photographed it yet. I'll show you that in my next blog.
